YNPN Austin is continuously recruiting passionate and talented individuals to help with the operation of our organization. Committee service with YNPN Austin is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in Austin’s nonprofit and public service sector. Committee leaders and members help shape the direction of our unique nonprofit, while gaining valuable new skills sets and experience in a fun atmosphere.

Those interested in joining a YNPN Austin Committee are encouraged to join at any time of the year. YNPN Austin Committees typically meet once per month for 1-2 hours. Committee business also happens outside of meetings and we encourage you to join the YNPN Austin Slack Channel to get involved.

YNPN Austin Committees

The Communications Committee is charged with enhancing public and professional awareness of YNPN Austin. Activities include maintaining YNPN’s social media presence, creating a monthly e-newsletter, supervising the website, and advertising events.

Communications Committee Roles

  • Webmaster: keep the website up-to-date, manage all web content, create and implements new website features that could be used as member benefits (discussion boards, podcasts, etc.), work with National on technology components.
  • eNewsletter Creator: Compile and publish monthly eNewsletter. Keep up with industry news, trends, events, and opportunities that would be interesting to our members.
  • External Communications Coordinator: PR/ media outreach, updates community calendars, writes and distributes, press materials when appropriate.
  • Social Media Manager: Manage Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other channels.
  • Original Content Writer: Write post-event articles, submits original content to website and eNewsletter.
  • Photographer: Capture YNPN activities and posts to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and website.

The mission of the development committee is to manage the fundraising and development efforts for YNPN Austin.

How to get involved: If you’re passionate about supporting Austin’s nonprofit sector, then consider joining the Development Committee! This committee organizes our annual Do Gooder Games and strengthens connections with our current and future donors.

YNPN Austin’s events committee serves local non-profit professionals by creating stimulating environments in which they can continue their professional development through scheduled educational workshops, skill-building events and social networking opportunities. Specific responsibilities of this committee include:

  • Plan and execute professional development and community building opportunities for YNPN members
  • Use YNPN Competency Model to create robust curriculum that will build necessary skills for nonprofit leaders
  • Cultivate relationships with non-profit leaders in positions to provide insight on topics of interest to members
  • Encourage event collaborations with other area non-profits
  • Implement program evaluation to gauge member satisfaction with event offerings

  • Community Outreach to coordinate with event speakers/presenters
  • Logistics/Event Planning to ensure the success of our events
  • Communications Liaison to help with promoting our events
  • Membership Liaison to ensure follow-up and event evaluation

YNPN Austin’s Strategic Partnerships Committee is responsible for engaging with partners to advance the mission of YNPN Austin. YNPN Austin works to provide accessible professional development opportunities that empower young leaders and advance the nonprofit community. Our vision is a cultivated network of engaged young leaders that meets the diverse needs of the greater Austin nonprofit community.

Specific responsibilities of the Strategic Partnerships Committee include:

  • Create new and enhance existing partnerships with local membership and nonprofit organizations to identify meaningful collaborations;
  • Work closely with the YNPN Austin board members to identify needs and develop strategies to support those needs;
  • Connect YNPN Austin to partners that will aid in advancing the mission of YNPN Austin;
  • Actively network and promote YNPN Austin, engaging with organizations both in-person and via online communities.
